U.S. Based - Remote
The Insight Forward internship is designed for individuals interested in geopolitical risk, security intelligence, and the future of AI in analysis. The intern will contribute to key areas of the firm’s operations, including research for weekly publications, special reports, and client-facing briefings. The role also includes support for protective intelligence monitoring and participation in the firm’s AI-development initiative. The position provides exposure to real-world intelligence cycles and offers hands-on experience in applied analysis and digital communication strategy. The intern will support these tasks on a remote basis, with an expected contribution of approximately 10 hours per week between the first day of the full-term semester and the last day of the full-term semester (Fall, Spring, Summer).
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to Insight Forward’s weekly geopolitical risk newsletter through research and writing support
- Assist in background research and data gathering for special reports, client briefings, and executive memos
- Support protective intelligence monitoring and assist in producing security updates and summaries for clients
- Participate in the development and testing of Insight Forward’s AI-based intelligence tools
- Contribute to social media strategy and execution
- Attend internal analytic sessions, briefings, and mentorship sessions with the senior team
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong writing and research skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into concise analysis
- Foundational understanding of international affairs, geopolitics, or security studies
- Familiarity with OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) and SOCMINT (Social Media Intelligence)
- Interest in emerging technology
- Digital literacy and comfort with collaborative tools (Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, etc.)

Required Work Experience
- Previous internships, student research, military experience, or involvement in analytic, journalistic, or strategic communication roles are helpful but not required
Required Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate students in national security studies, criminal justice, political science, business, industrial psychology, or a related field

Travel / Rotation Requirements

- The intern will support Insight Forward remotely at an agreed upon schedule totaling approximately 10 hours per week.
